Perestroyka |

| About Perestroyka collection: Perestroyka is my final year collection which is named after the period of time in which I was born into in Russia. It's the time when the Soviet Union fell apart and all the former republics of the Union went their own separate ways. Perestroyka means re-building in Russian and that's what inspired my collection. I took a long journey back to my past and tried to re-build my own little world again and fit it into the frames of the nearest future. So basically it is all about my childhood memories: the time I was born into, the environment, people, sounds, colours - the whole experience of being a child of Perestroyka had a great impact on me and became my inspiration. Why? It allowed me to understand myself better: going back to my memories made me remember the past, analyze experiences, learn from and value them. The autumn/winter collection is all about exaggerated hand-knitted woollen items, digitally printed silk shirts (prints inspired by Russian chocolate packaging) and some tailored pieces. |
