Russian-born Emilia moved to London on her own at the age of 16 to chase her dreams and become a fashion designer after leaving behind her studies at Moscow State Academy of Thin Chemical Technology. Completing a Foundation course in London College of Fashion enabled her to get into BA Surface Textiles for Fashion straight away which she has recently graduated with the 1st grade. During four years at College Emilia has been actively participating in various Fashion Shows, including some Charity Fashion Shows in Tate Britain and Oxfam. Moreover, always eager to learn new things Emilia did work experiences with established designers inside and outside of UK, such as Alexander McQueen, Igor Chapurin, Onjoo Mac etc in order to explore the possibilities and gain more awareness of the real industrial pace of the Fashion industry. Apart from Fashion, Emilia is interested in Psychology, practices Ashtanga yoga, plays piano when needs to get her mind of things, loves traveling, learning new languages and playing chess. Being a person who lives her dreams Emilia has got great plans for the future and is determined to do whatever it takes to meet her own expectations.

About Perestroyka collection:
Perestroyka is my final year collection which is named after the period of time in which I was born into in Russia. It's the time when the Soviet Union fell apart and all the former republics of the Union went their own separate ways. Perestroyka means re-building in Russian and that's what inspired my collection. I took a long journey back to my past and tried to re-build my own little world again and fit it into the frames of the nearest future. So basically it is all about my childhood memories: the time I was born into, the environment, people, sounds, colours - the whole experience of being a child of Perestroyka had a great impact on me and became my inspiration. Why? It allowed me to understand myself better: going back to my memories made me remember the past, analyze experiences, learn from and value them. The autumn/winter collection is all about exaggerated hand-knitted woollen items, digitally printed silk shirts (prints inspired by Russian chocolate packaging) and some tailored pieces.

About Chasing Alice project:
Chasing Alice is a spring/summer collection inspired by Alice Liddell. The extensive research on Alice from books and documentaries to trips to Oxford enabled me to understand the true character of the child behind the story and why she had such a great impact on Lewis Carroll. Alice was like no other child. She had an angelic face, rebellious personality and curiosity for life that encouraged her to explore the world around her. Alice was a dreamer who Lewis Carroll wished never grew up and remained a child at heart. I found this little girl very amusing and based my portfolio project around her.
