Prints : Urban Contours

My work, a series of prints and paintings, are concerned with the grid and a looseness/chaotic form of meditative meanderings. In my work "Urban Contours" the grid takes the form initially of a rigid structure in the form of squares screen printed onto the background. Several layers are introduced onto the geometric structure to partly obliterate the original image, a reference to objects associated with the sea. The prints begin with a two squares that are screen printed in blocks of acid colours, some over printed. Following these instructions/ rules the prints are taken through a series of applied pressures from the press.
This series of work is made on Shoji ( 61x91.4 cm) and Tenguji (63x44 cm) Japanese hand made paper.

Photographs : Hidden

My photographs represent domestic images in the home, a glimpse of something 'hidden'' or private. Shot deliberately out of focus, the blurred photos of a corner of a room or inside a pillowcase, suggest domesticity but are coolly minimal, juxtaposing organic and geometric.
Bachelard writes that inside the wardrobe there is an order that protects the house against ' uncurbed disorder'. Domestic objects, personal connections with inanimate things hide a secret psychological life.
